Red, green and blue. Each one made with tiny delica beads, woven together by hand, one by one. Each rupee is a front and a back panel, both different, sewn together and slightly "stuffed" for a 3-D look. I don't even want to calculate how many hours these comprise. Many. But it's all for the shiny.
Thank you so much! I was told that I need to look into making little bits of magicite... though when that might happen (since I'm being "hinted at very strongly" to do more rupee colors first), I can't be sure. "Sometime in the future", definitely! *grin*
Very pretty. Are they made entirely with brick stitch? Also, it looks like you used dark thread and I'm wondering how different they might look with white thread.
Thank you! They're made entirely with a square stitch, actually (and it took me 15 minutes to look that up--terminology and I do not get along).
I can picture the white thread. I personally prefer the black because it blends into the background and lets the beads shine all for themselves. Of course it's a matter of personal preference... and I do love shiny.
The delicas seem to be an ever-growing collection of colors... some of which I honestly have no idea where they came from or when I got them.
In my experience, white makes beadwork brighter in general, and I like bright. I don't have much experience with delicas, though, so maybe they are different.
I keep meaning to make and post two critters that are exactly the same except for thread color.

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Have you ever played FF6? If you have, this process would also be great for making the magicite sprites.

I envy your delicas ...
